Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has intensified its review of airfare trends ahead of the upcoming festive season. Tasked by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to keep a close watch on ticket prices, the regulator has urged airlines to ensure adequate capacity to prevent sharp fare hikes during peak travel demand.

Responding to the directive, carriers have announced significant capacity additions. IndiGo has scheduled 730 additional flights across 42 routes, while Air India and Air India Express together will operate 486 extra flights covering 20 sectors. SpiceJet has also expanded its schedule with 546 additional flights across 38 routes.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that DGCA will continue to maintain strict oversight on both airfares and capacity deployment throughout the festive period to safeguard the interests of passengers and ensure smoother travel.
